Markus Lawrenson obtained a
Bachelor of Music Degree with Honours, from the Royal
College of Music, London, as a violin soloist. He has also
gained solo performance diplomas under the direction of
Yossi Zivoni, from the International Summer Academy of
Music, Belgium.
Initially, he won a scholarship to the Junior Royal Academy
of Music, London. From there he went on to compete with
talented and gifted musicians from over 30 countries for a
coveted place at the International Purcell School of Music,
under the Presidency of Sir Simon Rattle. It was there, that
he won a full scholarship to be educated and trained in all
of the diverse music skills to an enviable standard.
Under the guidance of Professors of the London
Conservatoires, he has developed an exciting and unique
sound with superb technique. He has also benefited from
playing in top orchestras under the batons of Lorin Maazel,
Vernon Handley, Andrew Litton and Bernard Haitink, to name
but a few. He is currently developing under the hand of
American virtuoso, Professor Dona-Lee Croft, of the Royal
College of Music.
Markus has recorded with the Purcell Symphony Orchestra
under the Decca label and with the NMSO, BBC broadcasts and
recordings from the Albert Hall. At the Barbican, London,
Markus performed one of his own compositions in the presence
of Pierre Boulez. He has also played in Buckingham Palace
for Prince Charles.
Because Markus has persistently studied under International
teachers at the highest level, his acquired technique
enables him to project sound, in the mould of the great
Maestros, without the need of demising amplification. His
exciting live performances ensure you hear authentic violin
sounds, unlike those recordings assembled over a prolonged
period.
